about
sugar bear candy
My Grandmother raised eleven children. 11.
E-leven! By the time I came along, I was one of a sea of grandchildren who decided her kitchen was our favorite place to play. Instead of shooing us out, she'd pull one out of the swarm, stand us on a stool and have us stir something. This is how I learned to cook. Knowing that I'd get the first samples I started volunteering, especially when she made candy, which was quite often. This started a lifelong fascination with sugar and the way cooking it with a few degrees separation made all the difference between a syrup and a peppermint stick.
Like a great many of us who have spent most of 2020 at home, I have had the opportunity to re-explore projects and passions. I have indulged my sugar jones and explored new recipes and textures. It's been a great avocation and now I'd love to share my creations with you.
